Making a Claim

It is important that if you are involved in an accident you contact your insurance company as soon as possible. Most companies these days will have a 24 hour claim line, or they fill at least be open for a limited period at weekends and evenings. The first thing your insurance company will do is send you out a claim form.
If you have had work carried out on your car that you want to claim back, then you should hang onto your receipts and send them into the insurance company together with your claim form. You should also make photocopies of anything you send to your insurance company for your own reference.
In order for your claim to be processed quickly and without any problems, make sure you provide accurate and detailed information on your claim form of exactly what happened.

You should also inform your insurance company of what needs repaired as a result of your accident, as some places may overlook some areas of your car and say it was not damaged as a result of the accident. Your insurer may recommend a specific garage for you to take your car to, or at the very least, they will want to approve your quote before any work is done.
You will also have to pay your agreed level of excess to the garage once the repairs have been carried out.
